I was talking with a friend this week and once again those wheels start turning in my head.
I see it as two ways that you can overcome this world we are living in.
A: You can spend less.
You can listen to tons of people who talk about making and staying on budgets, but that is not the answer in the days we are living in. If you don't have any money coming in how is working on a budget going to help? I think most people have normal bills that do not meet the income that they are bringing in. I don't think they are over spending on other things that can be cut out with a budget. But if you are one whose bills are not over your income then spending less would work for you.
B: You can make more money.
I believe this is the only answer for most people in order to meet the amount of bills they have at the end of the month. I can guarantee that your boss is not going to increase your salary. So you are going to have to look elsewhere in order to make more money.
We have a lot of creative people out there who if they only started looking to put those creativities to work to bring in money they would be surprised what they could bring in. Did you know that there are people out there that HAVE money. You have to find them. You have to figure out what they want or think they want and give it to them. There are many ways to do that: Internet, newspaper, fliers, and word of mouth.
Today at work I was thinking "it sure would be nice if we had someone come in and sell popcorn." I think break times and lunch would make a pretty good chunk of change.
Figure out what your talents are and start looking for availability. But don't think about it too long or you will do nothing. Doing nothing will not get you out of the rut you are in.

Have you turned into a financial guru??? This sounds like the beginning of a book deal. Hmmm...can I be your agent? That would earn me some extra cash. :)
ReplyDeleteI think it is a combination of the two plans you stated, making more money and budgeting the money you have. If making more money causes you to believe that you have the advantage of spending more then that won't work either. Overcoming that feeling of being denied every day when you can't spend the money you want seems to me like a good thing to pursue. It seems to me that this is the reason for overspending. If you don't agree, I'm in for debating...
ReplyDeletei think nichole is got herself extra income coming...LOL
ReplyDeleteI totally get what you were sayin about budgeting...cuz alot of peeps have just enough to pay their household bills and that is all...so really there is no budgeting involved it is tryin to come up with something on the side....Let me give you an example ...mine...hee hee..creative process gets me in a jam these days and i cant get it rolling....and the times that I would need to put into it....are the times I need to take children to hospitals and doctor appts and school work and house work and so what does third shift need? Im asking for some ideas...cuz im available nighttimes after kids are in bed....thats my free time (if you wanna call it that...LOL)
Ok, I'll be the dumb one here. what is creative process? I can't give any ideas when I don't even know what we are talking about. Also what do you mean when you ask what does third shift need??? idn what third shift needs... can you shed a light on what you are asking.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I think it just takes a group of people in the same boat. Think about the money you all raised to take that vacation. You all worked together for a common goal and before you know it, you had the money. Maybe if you could get another common goal and worked together, you'd find that success again.
ReplyDeletecreative process refers back to aunt dona's 2nd paragraph under B.....my creative processing is blocked....I cant get my wheels a goin....LOL. Third shift...I was meaning what kind of jobs can I do after 10ish at night....since my real job is a mix of 1st and 2nd shift taking care of my kids and home, etc...my only free time is @ NIGHT and Im not sure what is "needed" during those hours that I could make extra money...without leaving my house...cause than thats a babysitting cost....:) I love these kinds of blogs cuz they make peeps think and discuss.
ReplyDeleteNichole, if I spelled better I might consider a book. Maybe we could do a joint effert. Since you like my other idea of leftovers and now this one maybe I am on a roll. A book would bring you in some extra money.
ReplyDeleteCamperfriend, I like your thoughts of overcoming the feeling of spending more money because you have it. And I agree it is a combination of both budgeting and earning.
Kelly, maybe you should write a book about dealing with epilepsy in a county that has nothing available. Call it "Self help with epilepsy when none is available."
Kelly, I can tell you that computer work does not make much money. You can advertise at the clostest college to write papers but I don't know if that makes money.
I also don't know if making power point program makes any money either. You would just have to start contacting employers and see what is out there.
I have not looked on Ebay to see if graphic art stationary or if there is such a thing as graphic art scrapbook pages.
There are some suggestions to run with.
Here is another idea Tiggsroof. I think I like this one the best, but others tell me your thoughts on it.
ReplyDeleteAdvertise at colleges for scholorship research. $20 for 3 hours of research.
I know college students always need scholorships but do not have the time to search. You would email them the webpages for the scholorships. They can pay through paypal as long as you are signed up to take credit cards on Paypal.
What do you think?
Good idea in theory, because college kids don't actually like looking for scholorships. But, I'm not sure if college kids have $20 bucks that's what they'd choose to spend it on.
